Building a Thriving Bowling Community for All Australians
We are excited to announce a new Tenpin Bowling in Australia Participation Plan – Let’s Roll! – a comprehensive strategy to inspire more Australians to enjoy tenpin bowling and create meaningful community connections.
Developed in partnership with the Australian Sports Commission, state and territory associations, and industry experts, the plan is designed to grow tenpin bowling across the country, focusing on four key areas:
- Strengthening relationships with centres to foster local bowling hubs
- Expanding participation pathways to ensure that every bowler, whether they play for fun, competition, or personal development, has opportunities to thrive
- Emphasising inclusivity to welcome bowlers of all ages and abilities
- Adapting programs to better serve communities across Australia
Ryan Edgar, CEO of Tenpin Bowling Australia, shared, “Our new Participation Plan represents a significant step forward in making tenpin bowling a sport that welcomes everyone. This strategy is about more than numbers; it’s about creating meaningful experiences within our communities. We are committed to ensuring that every Australian has the opportunity to experience the joy of tenpin bowling, whether they’re here to play, learn, or compete.”
With over 1 million Australians bowling each year and 1.6 million more interested in trying the sport, the plan aligns with the Australian Sports Commission’s Play Well Strategy to create safe, welcoming, and inclusive sporting experiences.
“The creation of this plan is the result of a lot of valuable contributions from the bowling community across the country,” added Sean O’Kane, TBA’s Participation Manager. “This strategy is designed to increase opportunities for everyone to get involved in bowling, including being physically active through to building community connections through the sport.”
