Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) is pleased to announce the final national rankings following the conclusion of the 2024 National Ranked event season.  

With 24 national ranked events taking place, the 2024 season was full of highlights with both familiar and new faces rising up through the ranks of the Australian bowling community.

“I want to thank the wonderful tournament directors of these major events across the country,” said TBA National Bowling & Operations Manager Nathan Stein. “Without them and the amazing bowlers that attend these events, there are no ranked events!”.

Twelve divisions fight for ranking points throughout the year.

• Junior Female
• Junior Male
• Youth Female
• Youth Male

• Senior Female

• Inclusion Female
• Inclusion Male

Ranking points are recorded only for bowlers who have silver-level membership before bowling a ball in the ranked event they participate.  From first place all the way down to 99th place, bowlers are rewarded ranking points if they meet the eligibility requirements. The maximum number of points received is reserved for the champion in an event for 100 points.

The final rankings points are calculated on the following basis in 2024 according to the National Elite Rankings Policy version 1.3:

• Senior Female & Male – Best 3 Senior Events and the TBA50 National Masters
• Grand Senior Female & Male – Best 3 Senior Events and the TBA50 National Masters
• Open – Best 3 Open events, and the Tenpin Bowling TBA Australian Masters
• Women’s – Best 3 Women’s division events, and the TBA Australian Masters
• Youth Female and Male – Best 2 Youth Events, best Open/Women’s Ranked event (TBA Australian Masters recognised as an Open event) and the TBA21 National Masters.
• Junior Female & Male –  Best 2 Junior events, best Youth/Women’s/Open ranked event and the TBA Junior Australian Masters
• Inclusion – ranking based on Inclusion Cup + National Masters + All Events from Nationals*

*All event and masters ranking points is a combined basis between Open & Classic Division

The Grand Seniors, Seniors, Open, Women’s, and Youth division winners will receive $1000 and a winner’s Plaque. In addition, the Junior division winners will each receive a $500 voucher to be used for any TBA Ranked Events or TBA National Team payments within the following 12 months and a winner’s plaque.

A total of 37 females received ranking points in nationally ranked junior events in 2024.

2024 Girl’s Junior National Rankings Champion – Emily Hart (SA)

Emily Hart has once again cemented herself as a dominant force in the junior bowling scene, claiming her second consecutive Junior Female National Rankings title and finishing on a well-deserved 345 points. This season marked a fitting end to Emily’s junior career, showcasing her consistency and determination while balancing national and international commitments.

Emily started her campaign with a podium finish at the Wyncity Youth Cup, laying the foundation for her stellar year. She then delivered a commanding performance at the TBA Junior Australian Masters, where she clinched the title and collected maximum points. With her confidence soaring, Emily travelled to the Sydney Junior Cup, where she narrowly missed the top spot, finishing as the runner-up but continuing to accumulate valuable points.

Her incredible form extended beyond national borders as she represented Australia with distinction at the Asian Junior Championships in Malaysia, bringing home two bronze medals in the girls’ doubles and girls’ masters events. Shortly after, Emily showcased her talent on the world stage at the IBF World Youth Championships in South Korea. Despite her busy Team Australia schedule, she returned to domestic competition to deliver a resounding finish, securing her second title of the year at the Louise Eady Melbourne Junior Cup.

Emily’s career in the junior ranks has been nothing short of extraordinary, with this year marking her third rankings title after victories in 2021, 2023, and now 2024. South Australian bowling has found a true star in Emily Hart, who bows out of the junior division as a proven champion ready for future success.

Julian Dinham’s rise to the top of the Junior Male National Rankings is nothing short of remarkable. Finishing 19th in last year’s standings, Julian transformed himself into a dominant force in 2024, claiming two national titles and securing his first Junior Male Rankings crown with 280 points.

The youngest of the talented Dinham trio, Julian’s season began with a statement performance at the Australian Open in the Open Division. Competing against some of Australia’s best, Julian’s impressive runner-up finish set the tone for the year and gave him an early confidence boost.

Missing the TBA Junior Australian Masters due to his selection for the Australian team at the Asian Junior Championships, Julian demonstrated no fear for the big stage on debut, bringing home a bronze medal in the boys’ team of four event. Upon his return to domestic competition, Julian truly hit his stride, delivering back-to-back wins at the Queensland Junior Cup and Louise Eady Melbourne Junior Cup. These victories solidified his position at the top of the rankings and showcased his ability to perform under pressure.

With this breakthrough season under his belt, Julian Dinham has firmly established himself as one of Australia’s most exciting young bowlers, poised for continued success in the years to come.

2024 Female Youth National Ranking Champion – Samantha Clifton (NSW)

Samantha Clifton’s outstanding performances in 2024 have earned her the title of Youth Female National Rankings Champion, finishing with 285 points. Her consistency and ability to deliver when it mattered most allowed her to rise above a competitive field.

Samantha started her season with a strong runner-up finish at the Wyncity Youth Cup, demonstrating her readiness to challenge for the top. At the Sydney Youth Cup, she narrowly missed the podium, finishing in 4th place but adding valuable points to her tally. Between national events, Samantha represented Australia at the IBF World Youth Championships, gaining invaluable experience on the international stage.

Returning to the domestic circuit, Samantha secured her best “other event” result with a 5th place finish at the NSW Open Women’s Division, showcasing her versatility across different formats and competition levels. However, it was her dominant performance at the TBA21 National Masters that truly set her apart. Samantha outperformed her rivals to claim the title and maximum points, solidifying her grip on the top of the rankings.

With an impressive mix of national success and international experience, Samantha Clifton’s season highlights her resilience, growth, and determination. She now stands as the deserving Youth Female Rankings Champion for 2024, and her future in the sport looks exceptionally bright.

2024 Male Youth National Rankings Champion – Blake Walsh (NSW)

Blake Walsh has delivered a season to remember, capturing the Youth Male National Rankings title with 280 points. A year of two halves filled with major wins and consistent performances demonstrated Blake’s ability to adapt and thrive under the pressure of elite youth competition.

His season began perfectly with a decisive victory at the Wyncity Youth Cup, where he showcased his continued excellence on the lanes. Building on this success, Blake delivered another stellar performance at the Sydney Youth Cup, securing his second title of the season and further solidifying his status as a top contender.

Blake’s strong performances extended to the Open Division, where he finished runner-up at the prestigious Kegel Queensland Open, proving his continued ability to compete with more experienced bowlers. Midway through the year, Blake represented Australia at the IBF World Youth Championships in South Korea, an experience that enriched his development and sharpened his competitive edge.

Despite concluding his national campaign early due to other commitments overseas embarking on a college scholarship in Iowa with the Mount Mercy Mustangs Bowling Program, Blake’s early-season dominance was enough to secure the rankings title. As he transitions into the next stage of his bowling career, Blake Walsh has firmly positioned himself as one of Australia’s brightest bowling talents.

Bek Martin reclaimed her spot at the top of the Women’s Division with a dominant 2024 season, finishing with 360 points. Returning with a hunger to reclaim the title after finishing runner-up last year, Bek delivered consistently strong performances across Australia’s top women’s events.

Bek started her campaign with a runner-up finish at the Vic150, immediately establishing herself as a title contender. She followed this with another runner-up finish at the Queensland Ladies Classic, showcasing her ability to maintain elite form across multiple events. Bek’s crowning achievements came in the latter half of the year, where she claimed back-to-back titles. Her fourth consecutive victory at the NSW Open put her in elite company alongside bowling legends Ann-Maree Putney and Bec Whiting. Bek capped off her remarkable season with her first TBA Australian Masters title alongside partner in crime Adam Hayes, a fitting reward for her relentless pursuit of excellence.

This year’s rankings victory marks Bek Martin’s second national title after her 2022 triumph. Her combination of skill, consistency, and determination continues to set her apart as one of the best in Australian women’s bowling.

2024 Open National Rankings Champion – Bernie Grueso Jnr (VIC)

Bernie Grueso Jnr’s meteoric rise to the top of the Open Division Rankings in 2024 is a testament to his determination, resilience, and incredible skill. After narrowly missing the title in 2023, finishing second to Adam Hayes, Bernie returned with a renewed focus this year, culminating in his first Open National Rankings crown with 235 points.

Bernie’s season began in emphatic fashion at the Australian Open, where he bowled with brilliantly to secure the title and maximum points. This win established him as a serious contender for the rankings title early in the season. He then continued his campaign with a 5th place finish at the Melbourne Tenpin Cup, a gruelling event that showcased his ability to compete with the best across multiple challenging games.

At the NSW Open, Bernie fought hard to finish in 4th place, maintaining his position near the top of the rankings. The final challenge of the season came at the prestigious TBA Australian Masters, where Bernie’s 13th place finish was enough to edge out his rivals and secure the top spot.

Bernie’s success in 2024 reflects not only his mental toughness but determination, consistently delivering under pressure in Australia’s most competitive division and attending every event he could. At just 22 years old, Bernie Grueso Jnr has long established himself as a name to watch in Australian bowling, and this rankings title is a fitting reward for his hard work and dedication.

A total of 10 females received ranking points in nationally ranked inclusion events in 2024.

A total of three events for this year’s inclusion division were on offer with performances counting towards ranking points.

2024 was the second year the Inclusion division was active after the inaugural season last year.

2024 Inclusion Female National Rankings Champion – Amanda Threlfall (VIC)

Amanda Threlfall has once again proven herself as a leader in the Inclusion Division, successfully defending her title and finishing the season with 201 points. The Victorian champion’s season was defined by grit, consistency, and her ability to deliver when it mattered most.

Amanda began her campaign with a dominant performance at the TBA Inclusion Cup, where she successfully defended her 2023 title. Entering the finals as the top qualifier, Amanda was in a league of her own, winning every matchup to claim the title and maximum points.

The National Disability Championship proved to be the battleground where Amanda would face her toughest tests. Competing in both the Masters and All-Events categories, Amanda’s strong performances ensured she remained in contention for the title. Her third-place finish in the All-Events division earned her crucial points, ultimately securing the rankings crown by a razor-thin margin of just one point.

Amanda’s second consecutive title is a testament to her hard work, focus, and ability to compete at the highest level. Her performances continue to inspire and elevate the Inclusion Division, and her 2024 campaign solidifies her place as one of the most consistent bowlers in her category. With selection in Team Australia’s 2025 IBF Para Bowling World Championships, next year looks to be an exciting year.

2024 Inclusion Male National Rankings Champion- Kallan Strong (NSW)

Kallan Strong delivered a commanding performance in 2024, capturing the Inclusion Male National Rankings title with a total of 250 points. Known for his powerful game and relentless focus, Kallan demonstrated exactly why he is one of Australia’s most formidable bowlers in the Inclusion Division.

The season began at the TBA Inclusion Cup, where Kallan’s 5th place finish provided a solid start. It was at the National Disability Championship, however, that Kallan cemented his status as the division’s top bowler. In the Masters event, Kallan delivered the highest overall score in the Open Division roll-off, showcasing his technical precision and competitive spirit. Although he fell short in the stepladder final, his top-seed performance earned him the full 100 points for rankings.

Kallan followed this success with an outstanding display in the All-Events competition, where he once again topped the standings. Collecting another 100 points, Kallan left no doubt about his dominance on the national stage.

Kallan Strong’s 2024 campaign highlights his ability to perform under pressure and rise to any challenge. His achievements reflect not only his immense skill but also his status as a role model for aspiring bowlers in the Inclusion Division. Selected for Team Australia at the 2025 IBF Para Bowling World Championships, Kallan will return to the world stage where he won the singles event in 2022 on home soil.

Dena Buxton has once again proven why she is a powerhouse in the TBA50 Female Division, claiming her second consecutive national title with an incredible 300 points. Dena’s campaign in 2024 was marked by consistent excellence, and her ability to thrive on the big stage.

After missing the season’s opening event, Dena’s return to the lanes at the John Sullivan Senior Australian Open was nothing short of spectacular. She dominated the field to capture her second consecutive title at the prestigious event, showcasing her champion pedigree.

A brief absence from the SA Seniors Classic did nothing to slow her momentum, as Dena stormed back to win the Brunswick Seniors Invitational at Bowlarama Wetherill Park. With two titles already in hand, all eyes turned to the TBA50 National Masters, where Dena once again delivered under pressure. Her triumph at the Masters not only secured her third win of the season but also cemented her place atop the rankings.

2024 TBA50 Male Senior Division Champion – Ashley Riley (TAS)

Ashley Riley’s triumph in the TBA50 Male Division is a story of determination, redemption, and skill. After narrowly missing out on the title in 2023, Ashley returned in 2024 with a clear mission: to claim the top spot. His campaign ended with an impressive 291 points and the title of TBA50 Male National Rankings Champion.

Ashley’s season kicked off with a bang at the Hammer Queensland Seniors Classic, where he showcased his elite form to take the title and maximum points. A challenging result at the John Sullivan Senior Australian Open saw him finish 13th, but Ashley’s ability to bounce back was on full display as the season progressed.

At the SA Seniors Classic, Ashley delivered a runner-up performance, adding another strong result to his rankings tally. A 7th place finish at the Brunswick Seniors Invitational kept him in the title hunt heading into the season finale, the TBA50 National Masters. In a high-stakes battle, Ashley finished in 3rd place, earning enough points to secure the rankings crown.

Julie Harrison’s perfect season in the TBA65 Female Division will be remembered as one of the most dominant campaigns in recent memory. Julie captured maximum points in all four events she contested, finishing with an incredible 400 points and her second consecutive rankings title.

Julie’s season began with back-to-back maximum point collections at the Hammer Queensland Seniors Classic and the John Sullivan Senior Australian Open, where her unmatched consistency put her ahead of the field. She continued her winning streak at the Brunswick Seniors Invitational, delivering yet another fantastic performance.

Her final triumph came at the TBA50 National Masters, where Julie once again claimed the title, completing her sweep of the season’s major events. Julie’s dominance in 2024 also extended to the international stage, where she captured an incredible four medals at the Asian Senior Championships, including gold in singles and silver in all-events.
